Professor R. Bogdan Staszewski is a distinguished faculty member at the UCD School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering within the College of Engineering and Architecture at University College Dublin. He also maintains a part-time Full Professor position at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. His research focuses on enabling the Internet of Things through innovative low-power circuit design and smart electronics.
Professor Staszewski's research interests center on developing energy-efficient electronic circuits that enable large-scale deployment of IoT devices. His work addresses critical challenges in wireless sensor networks, including energy harvesting from environmental sources, reliable environmental monitoring, and efficient communication systems. He has pioneered approaches to create cost-effective sensors that minimize factory calibration requirements while maintaining precision.
His research group has produced significant advancements in digital communication circuits, with particular emphasis on phase-locked loops, Bluetooth Low-Energy technology, and cryogenic CMOS circuits for quantum computing applications. The publications reflect a consistent focus on reducing power consumption while maintaining high performance in wireless communication systems.

Professor Staszewski leads an extensive research team comprising 5 postdocs, 25 PhD students (21 at UCD and 4 at Delft), and 8 Masters students. His research has been supported by Science Foundation Ireland and the European Research Council, resulting in more than 200 patents and two successful spin-off companies: Fastree3D for 3D sensors on autonomous cars, and DITIQ for fully digital transmission of information. He maintains strong industry collaborations with Intel, Xilinx, and Analog Devices, focusing on practical applications of his research.
