Qun Sun

Dr. Qun Sun serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Viticulture and Enology within the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at California State University, Fresno, where she joined in August 2017 after previously teaching Food Analysis for the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at the same institution.

Her educational background includes:

• M.S. from Southwest Agricultural University, China
• Ph.D. in wine chemistry from Cornell University

Dr. Sun's research program integrates chemosensory science and viticulture, focusing on aroma/flavor compound identification in grapes and wines, impacts of vineyard practices on quality metrics, novel analytical method development for wine components, and sensory-composition correlations. Her work bridges fundamental chemistry with practical winemaking applications to advance quality assessment protocols.

She teaches comprehensive coursework spanning enology fundamentals (ENOL 15, ENOL 45), advanced chemistry (ENOL 110, VEN 210), analytical techniques (ENOL 115, ENOL 164), and industry management (ENOL 175), while supervising independent studies (ENOL 190) and thesis research (VEN 299).
