Qiwei Chen

Dr. Qiwei Chen is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics and Finance at Brunel University London. With a PhD in Finance from the University of Essex and prior experience as a Lecturer of Finance at the University of Kent, his work bridges academia and industry, informed by six years in a Chinese commercial bank.

His research focuses on behavioral finance, behavioral accounting, and quantitative modeling, exploring how psychological factors influence financial markets and integrating behavioral variables into classical valuation models. He also studies credit default swap (CDS) valuation and earnings management anomalies.

Dr. Chen’s publications highlight trends in behavioral finance, particularly contrarian strategies, herding behavior, and regulatory impacts like IFRS adoption. He supervises PhD candidate Housam Mohamad and contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, convening modules in Financial Accounting Analysis and MSc Financial Accounting and Corporate Governance.
