About
Dr. Qing Zhang is a Research Fellow at the Australian National University's Research School of Earth Sciences specializing in isotope geochemistry applied to early Earth evolution, mineral exploration, and continental growth. His research examines Archean terranes and Phanerozoic orogenic systems through advanced geochemical techniques.
Research focuses on three primary areas:
- Magmatic cyclicity and episodic growth of the Australian Tasmanides
- Zircon Si-O isotope constraints on Archean petrogenesis
- Slab rollback processes along the Gondwana margin
Current projects investigate the formation of Hadean continental nuclei in North China using integrated field mapping, geochronology, and multi-isotope systems. His work provides new insights into Precambrian crustal formation mechanisms and supercontinent assembly processes.
