About
Dr. Qihui Zhou is a Group Leader within the Career Development Fellow Programme at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Munich. His research focuses on the pathogenic mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). He investigates the role of brain-infiltrating T cells, their interactions with CNS-resident cells like microglia and neurons, and their therapeutic implications in C9orf72-related ALS/FTD models.
- Research Focus: Neurodegenerative diseases, neuroinflammation, and peripheral immune-CNS interactions
- Methods: Flow cytometry, transgenic animal models, cell culture systems
This work addresses critical gaps in understanding how immune cells contribute to neurotoxicity and disease progression.
