University of Texas Southwestern Medical CenterAbout
Dr. Qiang Feng is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He holds a PhD in Nanoscience and Technology from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2017), and completed postdoctoral training under Professor Jinming Gao. His research focuses on tumor microenvironment dynamics, particularly the immunological roles of metabolites and extracellular acidity. Using nanosensor technologies like multi-chromatic pH nanosensors, he revealed severe tumor acidity (pHe <5.3) suppressing immune responses, while identifying sodium lactate’s immune-protective properties. This work led to acidity-targeted immunotherapy nanodrugs and immune adjuvants.
Education:
- Bachelor’s in Pharmaceutics, Peking University (2012)
- Master’s in Pharmaceutics, Peking University (2014)
- PhD in Nanoscience and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (2017)
Research Interests: Dr. Feng integrates cancer biology, immunology, and nanotechnology to study tumor metabolism-immune interactions. Key areas include pH-responsive nanomedicines, microfluidic synthesis of nanoparticles, and glycan profiling for cancer diagnostics. His work bridges basic science with clinical applications, such as improving T-cell immunotherapy efficacy through metabolic targeting.
Publications & Awards: With over 30 peer-reviewed articles (4,000+ citations) and three patents, his work has appeared in Nature Biomedical Engineering, Nature Communications, and other top journals. Recent publications focus on pH-sensitive drug delivery systems, MCT1 inhibitors, and CRISPR/Cas9 nanocarriers.
Advising & Labs: While no specific students are listed, his lab develops nanotechnology platforms for cancer diagnosis and therapy. Collaborations involve microfluidic manufacturing and immune metabolism modulation.
