About
Dr. Qi Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at San Diego State University's College of Engineering. He holds a PhD and MSE in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, where he completed postdoctoral research focusing on turbulence and data assimilation. His research develops computational methods for turbulence modeling, data assimilation, and optimal sensor placement.
Wang leads research projects on adjoint-based optimization, measurement-enhanced simulations, and pollution source localization in turbulent environments. He supervises PhD students working on Gaussian Process Regression, diffusion models, and particle-laden flows. His work has been recognized with numerous honors including mathematics olympiad medals and piano competition awards.
His recent publications demonstrate advancements in pressure reconstruction techniques, turbulence modeling, and machine learning applications for fluid dynamics problems. Research trends include increasing integration of adjoint methods with data assimilation frameworks and development of neural network approaches for flow reconstruction.
