Qais Assali is Professor of Practice in Graphic Arts at SMFA/Tufts. Born in Palestine and raised in the UAE, their interdisciplinary practice employs visual analogy, translation, and appropriation to explore diasporic identity and colonial narratives.
Work has been exhibited internationally at Hauser & Wirth, SculptureCenter, and Toronto Queer Film Festival. Projects include 'And did those feet in ancient time' (2021), recontextualizing British colonial hymns through multi-channel installations.

They hold an MFA from Bard College and MA from SAIC, with prior teaching at Vanderbilt and Michigan State. Current research examines Jerusalem's representation in colonial imaginaries.
