Prisca Gayles is the Gaius Charles Bolin Fellow in Africana Studies at Williams College and a Ph.D. Candidate in Latin American Studies (with portfolios in African Diaspora Studies and Women and Gender Studies) at the University of Texas at Austin.
Her research examines the politicization of blackness within collective action across the African Diaspora, with concentrated focus on Argentina. Key interests include transnational Black Feminist theory and solidarity economies, contextualized through her ethnographic dissertation on a black social movement in Argentina. This work analyzes relational processes for achieving racial justice amid systemic black invisibility.
