About
Primus Mtenga, Ph.D., P.E., is a Professor and Fulbright Scholar in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the Florida A&M University-Florida State University College of Engineering. His research focuses on non-destructive evaluation (NDE) for structural condition assessments, structural systems reliability, wood composites, forensic engineering, and decision support systems. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1991), an M.S. from the same institution (1983), and a B.S. from the University of Dar Es Salaam (1981).
Dr. Mtenga’s work spans bridge management strategies, composite materials, and infrastructure performance. His research integrates advanced materials like carbon fiber-reinforced polymers with traditional civil engineering systems. He has contributed to studies on structural composite lumber, epoxy-filled decking, and vibration effects in construction.
His articles highlight innovations in material durability, cyclic loading analysis, and bridge deterioration modeling. His expertise includes forensic engineering investigations and optimizing infrastructure maintenance through data-driven decision support systems.
