Prerit Datta

Prerit Datta serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science within the School of Science at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). He joined TCNJ in 2023 after appointments at Coastal Carolina University (2021-2023) and Texas Tech University, where he completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2022.

His educational background includes a doctorate from Texas Tech University. His research focuses on cybersecurity with specialized expertise in threat modeling, cyber attack prediction using machine learning, cloud security vulnerabilities, and privacy concerns in wearable technologies. His work frequently bridges theoretical security frameworks with practical applications, particularly in user-centric security solutions and attack consequence analysis.

Dr. Datta's publication portfolio reveals a strong emphasis on contemporary cybersecurity challenges, with 13 recent publications (2015-2022) spanning conferences like ACM SAC, IEEE COMPSAC, and IEEE ICMLA, along with journals such as SN Applied Sciences. His research demonstrates consistent innovation in attack prediction methodologies, cloud-based threat analysis, and human factors in security systems.

Among his recognitions, he received the CETL Mini Grant from TCNJ's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning in March 2024. He maintains active professional memberships in ACM's SIG on Cybersecurity and Information Technology Education, SIGCSE, and the broader Association for Computing Machinery.
