Pradeep Rohatgi

Dr. Pradeep Rohatgi is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's College of Engineering and Applied Science, serving in the Materials Science and Engineering Department. He directs the UWM Center for Advanced Materials Manufacture and holds joint appointments in Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. With a career spanning over five decades, Dr. Rohatgi has co-authored twelve books and more than 400 scientific papers while holding 20 U.S. patents. His foundational research on Cast Metal Composites is recognized as a landmark in the 11,000-year history of metal casting.

A significant portion of his recent research examines metal matrix composites reinforced with nanomaterials like graphene, investigating their tribological properties and corrosion resistance for transportation applications.

His publications demonstrate a strong focus on metal matrix composites, surface engineering, and tribological behavior, with recent work increasingly incorporating machine learning approaches for materials property prediction. The research consistently addresses practical manufacturing challenges while exploring fundamental material behaviors.
