Polina Dimova is an Associate Professor of Russian language, literature, and culture at the University of Denver, affiliated with the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences and the Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures. Her research focuses on European and Russian Modernism across the arts, sensory studies, science and literature, and Science Fiction. She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Berkeley (2010) and a B.A. from Smith College (2001).
Her work has been supported by grants from ACLS, NEH, and Mellon. Notable publications include At the Crossroads of the Senses (2024) and studies on Aleksandr Skriabin’s synaesthetic music. She explores intersections between art forms, science, and technology in early 20th-century Russian culture, emphasizing light, electricity, and transfiguration.
Dimova taught at UC Berkeley, Oberlin College, and Vanderbilt University. Her affiliations include ASEEES, MLA, and the Modernist Studies Association. She also maintains a blog (polyscholart.tumblr.com) and resides in Denver, CO.
