About
Dr. Piyush Ingale serves as Lecturer at Mannheim University of Applied Sciences since February 2023, teaching “Industrial Sustainability” and “Sustainable Industrial Chemistry” courses to chemical engineering, chemistry, and process engineering students at bachelor’s and master’s levels. Concurrently, he holds a Lab Team Leader position at BASF SE (since April 2025), directing sustainable catalysis research for bio-based feedstock conversion.
His educational qualifications include:
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Technische Universität Berlin (2016-2021), focusing on “Precise tailoring of interfaces via atomic layer deposition for heterogeneous catalyst design” for rWGS and propane dehydrogenation
- MSc in Chemical Engineering/Material Science, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (2013-2016), specializing in nanomaterials and bioprocessing
- Bachelor’s in Biotechnology, University of Pune (2009-2013)
Dr. Ingale’s research centers on sustainable heterogeneous catalysis, with emphasis on CO2 conversion pathways, biobased resource utilization, and atomic-scale interface engineering. His methodology integrates high-throughput experimentation with industrial process design, bridging academic theory and chemical industry applications. Current projects at BASF target catalytic conversion of renewable feedstocks into value-added chemicals.
As former Project Manager at hte GmbH (BASF subsidiary, 2022-2025), he led cross-functional R&D teams of 3-4 technicians in sustainability-focused catalysis projects. His dual industry-academia career demonstrates applied translation of catalytic research into educational frameworks and industrial processes, particularly in decarbonization technologies.
