Piotr Szajner

Piotr Szajner is a Doctor of Economic Sciences serving as Head of the Market Research Department at the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Food Economics, Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW). He is a core member of the International MBA Program "Food Economy" team, contributing expertise in agri-food market analysis and policy evaluation.

His academic foundation includes a degree from SGGW's Faculty of Economic and Agricultural Sciences.

Dr. Szajner's research centers on agricultural economics with emphasis on food market structure evolution, marketing chain dynamics, and international trade competitiveness. His work extensively analyzes price transmission mechanisms in agri-food supply chains and agricultural policy frameworks, particularly market regulations and trade governance. He has directed major national research initiatives including "Monitoring of agricultural and food markets in changing economic conditions" (2011-2014) and "Evolution and prospects of agricultural and food markets" (2015-2019), examining Poland's integration into EU food systems.

His international engagements feature collaboration with The Austrian Society of Agricultural Economics and The Swiss Society for Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology. Notably, he served as academic expert for the European Commission's High Level Expert Group on Milk in 2009 and currently advises the National Bank of Poland's Food Price Experts Forum.

As department head, he leads empirical market analysis teams focused on real-time monitoring of agricultural commodity flows, policy impact assessments, and competitiveness diagnostics within Poland's evolving food economy.
