Piotr Sołkowicz

Piotr Sołkowicz is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Percussion, Institute of Instrumental Studies, Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan, and serves as a solo percussionist with the Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra. His academic and artistic career bridges performance, pedagogy, and scholarly research in percussion and contemporary music.

He actively explores intersections between music and mathematics through annual lectures with Adam Mickiewicz University.

As an educator, Dr. Sołkowicz conducts master classes at music schools and serves on juries for national percussion competitions. His performance career includes world-premiere recordings of Feliks Nowowiejski's symphonies and concertos with the Poznan Philharmonic. He maintains active collaborations with contemporary composers and ensembles across Europe, contributing to new music through frequent premieres.

Dr. Sołkowicz leads multiple ensembles including the percussion quartet 'Neon', 'Sorim Duo', 'Idiom Project Ensemble', and the 'PerkTon Duo' (with Dr. Piotr Szulc). His work with 'Kwadrofonik' featured the first all-Polish performance of Steve Reich's 'Music for 18 Musicians', and he regularly performs in the 'Moja Muzyka' concert series at Poznan's Royal Castle.
