About
Dr. Piotr Płotka is an Associate Professor and Vice-Dean for Scientific Research and Implementation at Gdańsk University of Technology's Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics, leading the Department of Microelectronic Systems since 2017. He holds M.Sc. (1976), D.Eng. (1985), and D.Sc. (2008) degrees from Gdańsk University of Technology and the Institute of Electron Technology in Warsaw.
His research focuses on semiconductor nano-devices, molecular layer epitaxy, diamond-based sensors, and microwave/antenna optimization. Notable contributions include GaAs nanotransistors (7-nm channels), TUNNETT diodes (706 GHz generation), and boron-doped diamond fabrication for harsh environments. He developed novel methods for nanodevice fabrication using area-selective epitaxy and CVD techniques despite limited lithography resolution.
Teaching expertise spans semiconductor physics, microelectronics, integrated circuits, and MEMS systems. He co-authored 7 patents (5 Japanese, 2 Polish) and over 20 JCR-listed papers with an H-index of 9. He leads the Microelectronic Systems Research Team, focusing on ASIC design, low-power systems, and electromagnetic compatibility. Active in editorial roles (e.g., Zeszyty Naukowe Wydziału ETI) and Poland's Section of Microwaves and Radar Location.
