Piotr Czarnecki

Associate Professor Piotr Czarnecki heads the Department of Documentation of Religious Denominations of Contemporary Poland at Jagiellonian University's Institute of Religious Studies. His scholarship examines historical and contemporary religious movements.

Research focuses on:

• Medieval dualistic heresies (Catharism, Bogomilism)
• Historical and contemporary Satanism
• New religious movements
• Cathar exegesis of scripture

Published monographs analyze Italian Catharism, medieval Luciferianism, and French Catharism while editing collective works on UFO religions. Current research investigates 'folk' Catharism and Satanist movements.
