Piet Janse Van Rensburg

Piet Janse Van Rensburg is a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at CQUniversity Australia’s School of Engineering and Technology. He holds a D.Eng (Electrical) and BScHons (Physics), and is a member of MIEEE. His research focuses on Power-Line Communications (PLC), Smart Grid applications, and Renewable Energy Systems. He is currently accredited to supervise research in Communications Engineering (4006) and Electrical Engineering (4008), and is available to take on more research candidates.

Teaching responsibilities include unit coordination for ENEX13002 Power Electronics, ENEP11006 Industry Practice 1, MATH12225 Applied Computational Modelling, and leading lectures for ENEG11005 Introduction to Contemporary Engineering. His academic work bridges theoretical PLC innovations with practical applications in smart buildings and renewable energy infrastructure.

Research interests emphasize PLC coupler design, impedance matching, and smart grid integration. His publications span over two decades, addressing topics like inductive couplers, noise characterization, and MIMO power-line systems. He has contributed to advancements in low-voltage PLC for LED lighting networks and automotive PLC topologies.
