Pierre-Richard Agenor is Hallsworth Professor of International Macroeconomics and Development Economics at the University of Manchester, where he co-directs the Centre for Growth and Business Cycle Research. His research examines macroeconomic policy design for growth and poverty reduction, particularly in low-income countries, with current focus on financial volatility, crime-violence-growth linkages, and poverty traps.
Prior to Manchester, Dr. Agenor served as Lead Economist at the World Bank and Senior Economist at the IMF. He has held visiting positions at Yale University and taught globally.
