Phoebe Griffith

Dr. Phoebe Griffith is a Postdoc researcher at the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB), Berlin, Germany. Her primary affiliation is with the Department of Community and Ecosystem Ecology. She holds a DPhil in Conservation Biology from the University of Oxford (2023), an MSc in Wild Animal Biology from the Royal Veterinary College (2016), and a BA in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford (2015).

Her research focuses on freshwater megafauna conservation, integrating biocultural perspectives to address biodiversity threats. Key areas include crocodilian conservation (e.g., gharial in Nepal), functional and phylogenetic diversity applications, and leveraging cultural values for policy advocacy. She co-chairs the European Croc Network and Early-Career Croc Network for Asia, and is a member of the IUCN SSC Crocodile Specialist Group.
