Phillip Maciak

Phillip Maciak is a Senior Lecturer in English and American Culture Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. He teaches courses on U.S. literature, visual media, and cultural criticism, including 'The Great American Novel,' 'A Star is Born: Literature and Celebrity,' and 'Modern Texts and Contexts.'

Dr. Maciak holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A. from the University of Virginia, and a B.A. from Amherst College. As TV critic for The New Republic, his research explores screen culture in contemporary society. His book 'Avidly Reads Screen Time' examines how screens define human experience in the 21st century.
