Dr. Phillip Joy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Human Nutrition at Mount Saint Vincent University. He holds a PhD (Health), PDt, and M.Sc., specializing in LGBTQ+ nutrition, body image, and health equity. His research employs arts-based methodologies like photovoice and cell-philming to explore marginalized communities' health experiences.
Key research focuses include 2SLGBTQ+ nutrition, compassionate healthcare, and pedagogical reforms in dietetics. He leads projects such as FoodNOW (addressing HIV/AIDS nutrition) and Wicked Bodies (combatting eating disorder stigma). His work is funded by SSHRC and other grants.
