Dr. Philippe Peycam is the Director of the International Institute of Asian Studies (IIAS) at Leiden University, where he oversees the transnational program "Humanities across Borders, Asia and Africa in the World" (2017–2021). He holds a Ph.D. from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Previously, he served as Founding Director of the Center for Khmer Studies in Cambodia, the first American Overseas Research Center in Southeast Asia. His research focuses on modern Vietnam and Southeast Asia, with current work on a book titled Cultural Renewal and Social Ruins: Reflections on Post-Conflict Cambodia.
