Dr. Philippe Claeys is a Professor of Chemistry, Archaeology, Environmental Change, and Geochemistry at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), where he leads the transdisciplinary Archaeology, Environmental Changes & Geochemistry (AMGC) research unit. He holds visiting professorships at Ghent University, University of Liège, and the University of British Columbia. His expertise spans planetary science, impact processes, and paleoenvironmental reconstruction, with a focus on asteroid/comet impacts and their effects on Earth's bio-geosphere.
Education includes a PhD from the University of California, Davis (1993), and postdoctoral research at UCLA and UC Berkeley.
