Philippe Bataille is a Director of Studies (Professor) at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS), affiliated with the Laboratory of Political Anthropology (LAP) under the Institut interdisciplinaire d'anthropologie du contemporain (IIAC). He concurrently serves as a member of the Center for Clinical Ethics at Cochin Hospital in Paris.

His current work investigates how medical and care relationships transform the category of 'subject' in high-stakes clinical scenarios where ethical conflicts obstruct treatment pathways.
