Philipp Sembdner

Dr.-Ing. Philipp Sembdner is a Research Associate at the Chair of Virtual Product Development within Technische Universität Dresden. He completed his mechanical engineering studies at TU Dresden (2003–2009), specializing in "general and constructive mechanical engineering," followed by a doctorate in 2017 on computer-aided planning for bone implants. His research focuses on developing methods for patient-specific medical devices, emphasizing interdisciplinary workflows between physicians, engineers, and technicians.

His recent work explores additive manufacturing of calcium phosphate cement scaffolds, 3D printing of bone implants, and CT data integration into CAD systems. Articles highlight workflow optimization and process validation for medical applications. He contributes to software tools bridging clinical data and engineering design, aiming to accelerate implant development and improve clinical acceptance.
