About
Priv.-Doz. Dr.-Ing. Philipp Junker is an Associate Professor at the Chair of Mechanics-Material Theory at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. His research focuses on variational methods in material modeling, particularly applications of Hamilton’s Principle to describe load-dependent microstructure evolution in solids and solve inverse problems like topology optimization through bio-inspired growth approaches.
Research Interests:
- Variational methods in material modeling
- Phase transformations in solids
- Energy-based modeling strategies
- Topology optimization via biological growth processes
He is also a managing partner at ComMaSIM UG (hb.), indicating industry-academia collaboration beyond his university role.
