Philipp Backhaus is a clinician scientist at the University of Münster, affiliated with the European Institute for Molecular Imaging (EIMI) and the Department of Nuclear Medicine at University Hospital Münster. Since August 2024, he holds a Junior Clinical Translational Professorship (W1, Tenure Track) and leads the "Imaging Host Responses" research group.
His research focuses on translational PET/MRI imaging of the tumor microenvironment and inflammation, with a particular emphasis on combining radioligand therapy and immunotherapy. He has pioneered techniques for precise arterial input functions and FAP-targeted imaging in preclinical and clinical settings.
