Philip L. Crossley

Philip L. Crossley is a Professor and Chair of the Behavioral & Social Sciences Department at Western Colorado University. He earned his PhD in Geography (1999) and MA in Latin American Studies (1990) from the University of Texas at Austin, and a BA in Music from Trinity Western University (1986).

• Research Focus: Chinampa agriculture in Mexico, traditional farming systems, irrigation practices, and road naming conventions in the American West.
• Courses Taught: Introduction to Human Geography, World Regional Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and specialized topics in Latin American and urban geography.

His publications explore historical agricultural systems in Mexico, including floating gardens and sub-irrigation techniques in wetland environments. Crossley’s work bridges geographical analysis with environmental history and sustainability studies.
