Philip G. Alston

Philip G. Alston is the John Norton Pomeroy Professor of Law at New York University School of Law. His expertise spans international law, human rights law, economic and social rights, and strategic litigation. He has held pivotal UN roles, including Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty (2014–2020) and Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Executions (2004–2010). Alston has also contributed to UN committees, including the Committee on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights, and served as UNICEF’s senior legal adviser on children’s rights (1986–1992).
