Dr. Phil Weber is a Lecturer in Computer Science at Aston University and a member of both the Aston Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Applications and the Aston Institute for Forensic Linguistics. His research focuses on forensic data science and speech technologies.
Education: PhD from University of Birmingham (2014), MSc in Advanced Computer Science from University of Birmingham (2009), BSc in Computer Science from Loughborough University (1994).
Research interests include forensic voice comparison, automatic speech recognition (especially in low-resource settings), business process mining, and applications of machine learning in forensic science. His work spans both theoretical development and practical applications in legal contexts.
Recent publications demonstrate focus on forensic speech science and automatic speaker recognition, with applications in courtroom evidence evaluation. His work addresses both technical aspects of voice comparison and human factors in voice identification.
