Dr. Phil G. Campbell is a Research Professor at Carnegie Mellon University with joint appointments in Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, and Materials Science & Engineering. His research explores growth factor bioavailability and biomimetic tissue engineering.
Campbell's laboratory investigates cellular microenvironments, focusing on how growth factors interact with extracellular matrices and influence tissue regeneration. His work spans basic science of protein-material interactions and applied research in cardiac, skeletal, and corneal tissue engineering.
He has co-authored over 15 peer-reviewed publications and holds 10 US patents. Campbell received the Benjamin Richard Teare Teaching Award in 2018 and contributes to the Molecular Biosensor and Imaging Center at CMU.
