Phil Colbert

Phil Colbert is a Senior Lecturer and Director of the CIT Minor within the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Oregon, School of Computer and Data Sciences. His academic and professional expertise spans software engineering, web and database development, and information security, with a focus on healthcare, environmental sciences, and IoT technologies.

• Education: M.S. in Computer Science (2008, CSU Chico); B.S. in Physical Science with Minor in Chemistry (1990, CSU Chico)

Phil’s teaching emphasizes preparing students for evolving technological challenges in business databases, networks, web applications, and software systems. He has extensive teaching experience across multiple institutions, including Lane Community College, CSU Chico, and Butte College. Additionally, he authored four C# certificate courses for the O'Reilly School of Technology and taught fencing for many years.
