Petru Marian CÂRLESCU

Prof. Petru Marian CÂRLESCU serves as Professor and current Head of the Department of Food Technologies at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine from Iasi. Previously, he held positions as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture (2020-2021) and Head of the Department of Quality Assurance (2018-2020).

His research specializes in Heat and Mass Transfer in Food Engineering, computational modeling of food processing operations (CFD, FEM, DEM, FDS), and analysis of food physical properties including texture, rheology, thermal characteristics, and color. Additional expertise spans Unit Operations for Food Engineering, Food Processing Equipment design, Food Packaging systems, and Computer Aided Design applications.

Prof. CÂRLESCU maintains active professional engagement through memberships in the International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (CIGR) since 2017, European Society of Agricultural Engineers (EurAgEng) since 2017, Romanian Association for Stress Analysis (ARTENS) since 2007, and Romanian Society of Applied and Industrial Mathematics (ROMAI) since 2008.

He has coordinated 17 research grants and contracts while authoring 114 scientific papers and 8 academic textbooks. His academic leadership extends across Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral programs in Agronomy, Food Engineering, and Agricultural Management specializations within the Faculty of Agriculture.
