Petropoulos Nikolaos

Petropoulos Nikolaos serves as an Associate Professor at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) within the School of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Nuclear Technology since 2024, having progressed through academic ranks from Lecturer (2006-2013) to Assistant Professor (2013-2024).

His educational background includes a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (1991) and a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering (2003), both from NTUA.

Dr. Petropoulos specializes in Nuclear Fission Reactors and Radiological Impacts on the Environment, with research extending to non-destructive testing methods using nuclear technology. His work bridges nuclear engineering with computer science through courses in programming techniques and operating systems.

His professional recognition includes membership in the Health Physics Society since 2003, alongside continuous membership in the Panhellenic Association of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and Technical Chamber of Greece since 1992.

Currently serving as Director of both the Nuclear Technology Laboratory and Personal Computer Laboratory, Dr. Petropoulos teaches undergraduate courses including Computer Programming Techniques (as coordinator), Operating Systems & Programming Languages, Physical Principles of Nuclear Power Reactors, and Materials Testing with Radiography and Ultrasound. He also co-teaches Nuclear Measurement Systems and offers postgraduate courses in Non-Destructive Testing and Nuclear Fusion Reactors.
