Petr Musilek

Petr Musilek is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Associate Dean (Research Operations) at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Alberta (APEGA) and a Senior Member of IEEE.

Education:

• Ing. in Electrical Engineering (1991), Military Technical Academy in Brno, Czech Republic
• PhD in Technical Cybernetics (1995), Military Technical Academy in Brno, Czech Republic
• NATO Science Fellowship (1997) at the University of Saskatchewan

Research Interests: Dr. Musilek's work centers on energy systems digitization and intelligent solutions for modern power grids. His research integrates renewable energy resources, battery storage, and electric vehicles using computational intelligence methods including machine learning, neural networks, and evolutionary computing. Key focus areas include transactive energy markets, dynamic grid infrastructure resilience, and weather-impact modeling for energy systems.
