Peter Wulf

Peter Wulf serves as Professor for Technical Mechanics and Numerical Flow Simulation at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Production, Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg (HAW Hamburg). Since 2020, he has held the position of Vice President for Research, Knowledge Transfer and International Affairs, overseeing the university's research strategy, innovation transfer initiatives, and global partnerships.

His educational background includes a Doctorate in Engineering (Fluid Mechanics) from the University of Bremen (1997), preceded by studies in Mechanical Engineering with focus on Aerospace Technology at RWTH Aachen University (1989-1993) and initial mechanical engineering studies at the University of Paderborn (1987-1989). Prior to his academic career, he gained substantial industry experience at Bayer MaterialScience AG and MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AG.

Professor Wulf's research expertise centers on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with specialized focus on multiphase flows, fluid-structure interaction, and wave energy conversion systems. His work bridges theoretical mechanics with practical engineering applications, particularly in sustainable energy solutions. He leads significant research initiatives including the X-Energy project and its subprojects, demonstrating his commitment to technological innovation in mechanical engineering applications.

As an academic leader, he previously served as Head of the Institute for Computational and Applied Mechanics and Mechatronics (2010-2020) and remains active in the Institute for Computer-oriented and Applied Mechanics and Mechatronics (ICAMM). His administrative responsibilities encompass oversight of the Promotionszentrum (doctoral programs), Campus Weiterbildung (continuing education), go-2-prof*in program, Competence Center, and GründungsService (startup support).
