Peter Wien is Professor of Modern Middle East History at the University of Maryland's Department of History. Holding a PhD from the University of Bonn and master's degrees from Oxford and Heidelberg, his research examines Arab nationalism, Islamic history, and cross-cultural exchange. He serves as President of The Academic Research Institute in Iraq and previously held leadership positions including Interim Chair of History at UMD.
