Peter Walters

Associate Professor Peter Walters is an urban sociologist at The University of Queensland's School of Social Science. His research examines urban community formation across diverse contexts including Australian suburbs, gentrifying inner cities, and informal settlements in the Global South.

Walters' current work focuses on climate change impacts on the urban poor. He coordinates the Sociology program and teaches courses on urban sociology, emphasizing how urban spaces shape social attachments and opportunities.
