Peter Waara

Peter Waara is Visiting Professor in Human Work Sciences at Luleå University of Technology's Department of Social Sciences, Technology and Arts. His research examines youth transitions to adulthood, particularly school-to-work pathways influenced by social and economic factors.

Research investigates how young people become adult members of society, focusing on the impact of social structures, economic conditions, and cultural contexts on career pathways. Comparative studies explore youth experiences across the Barents region.

Publications analyze labor market entry patterns, geographic mobility decisions, and the role of social networks in employment transitions.

He teaches sociological theory and research methodology, and has supervised over 100 theses. Nominated for Best Teacher at Luleå University in 2005/06.
