Dr. Peter Tinning is a Research Fellow at the University of Strathclyde's Centre for Microsystems and Photonics within the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. He holds an MPhys (2015) and PhD from Strathclyde, where he developed super-resolution structured illumination techniques under Prof. Gail McConnell. His postdoctoral research involved enhancing the Mesolens confocal microscope for large-scale calcium imaging.
Dr. Tinning's current projects focus on developing miniaturized structured illumination microscopy using 3D-printed components and MEMS technology. He received the 2024 Stephen Young Entrepreneurship Award for his Northern Light Microscopy venture. His publications demonstrate expertise in advanced microscopy techniques, optical MEMS, and biomedical imaging applications.
