Peter Strachan

Professor Peter Strachan is a Professor of Energy Policy and Sustainability at Robert Gordon University's Aberdeen Business School, leading the Energy, Sustainability & Society Research Group. He holds academic roles including Chair of the Research Ethics Committee and membership in the ESRC Peer Review College. His research spans 30 years, focusing on energy transitions, sustainability management, and policy frameworks. He has advised governments, including Scotland and Cyprus, and contributed to international energy initiatives like the UK-Mexico Sustainable Energy Collaboration (2015). Professor Strachan has supervised 22 doctoral students and currently guides a thriving research group.

Research Interests
Energy policy, sub-national governance models, renewable energy transitions, corporate social responsibility, and international development in Africa. His work bridges academic research with practical policy solutions, evidenced by contributions to the Scottish Government’s energy strategy and involvement in EU-funded projects like RiCORE.
