Peter Spindler is a lecturer at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna since February 2018 and has taught at the University of Vienna since 2013. He is founder and artistic director of the Laboratory for Creative Theater and member of the Theater Tanz Performance Collective WUK.
Education:
- MA in "Devised Theatre and Performance" from Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, London
- Training in "Creating and Performing Theatre" at LISPA - London International School of Performing Arts
- Artistic training at Bont's International Clown School
- Qualified elementary/high school teacher (psychology, philosophy, geography, economics) from University of Vienna
Research Focus: Spindler designs co-creative participatory theatre formats and educational programs at intersections of education, health, science, music, and visual arts. His work emphasizes improvisation, ensemble dynamics, role development, physical theatre, mask work, commedia dell'arte, and clowning through collaborative performance practices.
Professional Activities: Since 2004, he performs as CliniClown for oncology patients at Vienna General Hospital. Extensive performance history includes Scala Theatre (London), Theater Drachengasse (Vienna), Kunsthalle Wien, Linzer Pflasterspektakel, and mumok. Teaches theatrical pedagogy for teacher training programs and continuing education courses across Austrian institutions.
Teams & Labs: Leads the Laboratory for Creative Theater and collaborates with Theater Tanz Performance Collective WUK on interdisciplinary projects integrating theatre with social outreach.
