Peter Ruth

Prof. Peter Ruth serves as Chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Institute of Pharmacy, Eberhard Karls University Tuebingen. His research focuses on developing mouse models to study age-related human diseases such as hearing loss, ataxia, hypertension, hyperaldosteronism, and obesity. These models enable identification of drug targets and evaluation of molecular mechanisms.

He leads interdisciplinary collaborations through the HELP initiative (H elping the E lderly to enjoy L ong com P lete lives), which integrates geriatric science research across disciplines. Research techniques include genetic ablation, organ-level function analysis, and cellular/molecular assessments to address demographic challenges linked to aging populations.

His work contributes to understanding demographic change and developing solutions for elderly health, with ongoing efforts expanding mouse model applications for translational medicine. Collaborations include the Hans-Böckler Foundation's doctoral program and cross-faculty initiatives at Tuebingen University.
