Peter Roessler

Peter Roessler is a Professor of Dramaturgy, born in Vienna and educated in theater studies, German studies, philosophy, and history at universities in Vienna and Berlin. He holds leadership positions including Chairman of the Theodor Kramer Society, Board Member of the Austrian Society for Exile Research, and member of literary juries. His work spans dramaturgy, theater, and essay writing, with editorial contributions to journals and books.

Roessler's research explores drama, directing, acting, exile/post-war theater, theater journalism, historical imagery, contemporary theater issues, and film. He has co-edited works on figures like Berthold Viertel and Theodor Kramer, and themes including Viennese theater post-1945, exile reception, and the history of the Max Reinhardt Seminar.
