Peter R. Isler

Dr. Peter R. Isler is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich, where he has taught commercial and business law since 1974. He is also co-editor of the Journal of Swiss Law and has maintained a legal practice focused on corporate and banking law, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, inheritance law, civil procedure, and arbitration. A partner at Niederer Kraft Frey in Zurich since 1981, he serves on numerous boards of directors for listed and family-owned companies.

• Education: Dr. Peter R. Isler graduated in Law from the University of Zurich in 1973 and earned an LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 1974.

His research interests revolve around legal frameworks governing corporate governance, financial transactions, and arbitration. As a legal scholar, he has contributed to the advancement of Swiss law through publications and editorial leadership.

Dr. Isler received the prestigious title of Honorary Senator of the University of Zurich in recognition of his decades-long commitment to alumni relations and institutional development.

He has held significant advisory roles, including serving as President of the UZH Alumni Association and Board of Trustees of the UZH Foundation. At Harvard, he developed a lifelong appreciation for alumni engagement, which he later helped institutionalize at UZH through initiatives like the Alumni Award.
