Peter Pearson

Professor Peter Pearson is an Honorary Professor at the Centre for Environmental Policy, part of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Imperial College London. He holds a BA, MSc Econ, and PhD. His research focuses on long-term energy technology transitions, urban energy sustainability, and innovation policy for low-carbon systems.

Key Roles & Experience:

• Specialist Advisor to the UK Parliament's Innovation, Universities, Science & Skills Select Committee (2007-08)
• Gave the Queen's Lecture 2007 at TU Berlin: 'Energy Systems in Transition - No Future without Innovation'
• Chair of the International Evaluation Panel for Finland's Academy of Sciences (2006)
• Member of the UK Energy Research Centre's Technology & Policy Assessment Function (2005-08)
• Directed Surrey University's Energy Economics Centre (1989-1994)

Research Interests: Pearson's work spans historical energy transitions, policy design for renewable deployment, and socio-technical systems analysis. Recent projects include the NERC bioenergy consortium (2005-09) and studies on hydrogen infrastructure in London (2002-05).

Additional Contributions: Pearson has reviewed projects for the World Bank, IEA, and UK National Audit Office. He also engages in creative writing, winning poetry prizes and performing in literary events.
