Peter Nijkamp is a Professor at Free University Amsterdam (1975-2015) and Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan (2014-present), as well as a Visiting Researcher at Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm (2016-present) and Fellow at Tinbergen Institute (2016-present). He has held numerous leadership roles, including President of NWO (2002-2009) and EUROHORCs (2005-2007).

His research spans Regional economics, Transport and technological innovation, Urban development, and Spatial economics. He has contributed to sustainable development, decision support models, and spatial equilibrium modeling.
