Peter Mortensen

Peter Mortensen is a Professor of Property Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen, where he has served continuously since 1990. His academic career progressed from Candidate Fellow (1990-1992) to Assistant Professor (1992-1994), Associate Professor (1994-2000), and full Professor (2000-present). He maintains significant external engagements including judicial service as a Judge in the Eastern High Court (2019-2021) and legal consultancy roles with entities like COWI A/S and Accura Advokatpartnerselskab.

Professor Mortensen's research centers on Danish and international property law with specialized focus on real property rights, renewable energy installations, legal due diligence, easements, land registration systems, expropriation procedures, and public regulatory frameworks encompassing planning, environmental, and agricultural law. His work bridges theoretical legal scholarship with practical applications in real estate and energy sectors.

His 127 research outputs (2022-2025) reveal consistent expertise in property law fundamentals while increasingly addressing contemporary challenges in green energy investments and digital registration systems. Recent publications demonstrate expertise across commentary writing, textbook development, and scholarly analysis of legislative impacts on property markets.

His advisory roles extend to government bodies like the Ministry of Justice's Registration Committee and the Follow-up Group on Digital Registration.
